Safer Date is the only online dating agency which insists on everyone undergoing a thorough ID and background check BEFORE they are allowed to become a member.
This is to ensure that every person is who they say they are, to prevent fake profiles and to only allow members with a clear criminal record. Please see our FAQs for what we allow and disallow.
Safer Date is designed to be a safer space for you to meet online, chat, and hopefully find your happily ever after.
As we have added in additional security compared to other dating sites, the registration process is a little different. Here’s some tips to help you with your registration and profile, so that you can get the most out of Safer Date.
How to Register for Safer Date
Firstly, you have to choose your membership option. You can choose to sign up for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. The longer you commit to, the greater the cost saving.
A one-off ID & background checking fee of £105 is included in every membership option. If you fail the checks, this is non-refundable.
All membership options are a recurring fee but you can cancel or upgrade your membership at any time within your account, up to 48 hours before the renewal date.
To register, please take a look at the Membership Levels page or click on your chosen option below. You can then follow the on-screen instructions to check out.
What Happens After Checkout
Once you have submitted your payment, your membership account will automatically be put on hold while we carry out our checks, as explained in the on-screen message.
This is a security feature. We will not allow anyone to access our members’ profiles until they have been checked and vetted.
You will receive an order confirmation email from saferdate.co.uk with a copy of your receipt. Please ensure you check your spam/junk folders before contacting us.
The ID & Background Checking Procedure
Within 48 hours of registration, you will receive an email with full instructions on the ID checking procedure. If you haven’t received this email after 48 hours of registration, please ensure you check your spam/junk folders before contacting us.
Once you have completed ID check, we will then process your background checks. Please be patient while the checks are being carried out. 95% of the checks will be returned within 72 hours of you submitting your information, but we have no control over this timescale.
If you have been identified and your background check comes back clear, we will approve your membership straight away.
If your background check comes back with a concern and the crime committed goes against our policies, we will refuse your membership and the cost of your membership will be refunded to you, minus the cost of the ID and background check.
Please note: Due to the nature of the data and GDPR, we will not disclose the reason for failure. Reasons for membership rejection include crimes of violence, abuse, fraud, theft and also insolvency.
Please see our terms and conditions for further details.
Completing Your Profile
You can log in and complete your profile at any time, whether your membership has been approved or not. You will find the link to your profile in your registration email, or on the website once you have logged in.
Simply click on ‘Edit/Complete Profile’ within the profile page and fill in all of your details. Some fields are mandatory but some are optional.
You can upload a profile photo and additional photos can be uploaded in the ‘media’ section of your profile.
Once your profile is complete, you can then browse through other member profiles.
If you have any issues or feature requests, please don’t hesitate to contact the Safer Date Team.
